PE

Intent

We promote an ‘everybody active’ attitude amongst the children, where all pupils develop a keen interest in sport and are willing to partake in sporting activities. We provide a variety of engaging lessons delivered by school staff; deploy a wide range of teaching strategies and enter a broad selection of competitions for the children across both key stages. By doing this, the pupils further develop their confidence and self-esteem when they are accessing P.E. lessons and when they are representing the school in sporting competitions. The pupils also continue to develop their knowledge and understanding of a wide range of sports, equipping them with the skills they need to access sporting activities.

There are amazing Physical Education opportunities at Scott Primary School. Our facilities provide our children with a great platform to be successful. Our Indoor Sports Hall is multi purpose and our outdoor field facilities give the students a range of activities to take part in. We have an experienced PE Teacher who teaches Year One through to Year Six. At Scott, we compete in all the District Competitions, Leagues and Festivals, which allow our students to express themselves in a competitive and fun environment. We also host 7 after school sports clubs that our children can enjoy. At Scott, we want our students to be as physically active as possible.

Our main aims at Scott Primary School in Physical Education are to:

1. Promote an all-inclusive environment, where our students feel they can lead healthy and active lives.

2. Encouraging a growth mind-set from our students when they approach Physical Education, School Sport and Physical Activity.

3. Embed our school values into our Physical Education Curriculum.

4. Empower all students to become physically literate: motivated, physically competent and confident in their fundamental movement skills.

5. Increase the wellbeing of the school through movement: Learning to move and moving to learn.

At Scott Primary, our biggest attended after school club is our Girls Football Practice. We cater for year 3 students up to year 6. Over the last 6 years, Scott Primary has become a feeder school for encouraging our students to play football for Bedford Ladies Football Club. Girls have an opportunity of training at our school and also training twice a week for Bedford Ladies FC. It has been amazing to notice girls discussing their training sessions and matches with one another, whilst also continuing to play football when they leave for secondary school . During this 6 year period, we have competed in girls friendly matches and been given the opportunity to introduce Arsenal Ladies FC coaches to our students. The school were given 25 free tickets to attend the 2019 Women’s FA Cup Final and we also had a tour of the Emirates Stadium, due to our connection with Bedford Ladies FC. We are very proud to call ourselves the 2022/23 year 5 and 6 Girls District Football Champions, our year 3 and 4 students also played matches in their own tournament, which every girl enjoyed. Our aim is to get the girls enjoying playing Football and improving their skills, whilst making new friends in the process. We are always striving to make a difference.
