Owls - Year 2

Welcome to Owls Class!

Miss Power and Miss Cook will be with you every day and you will have PE with Mr Allan on a Monday afternoon. In Owls class this year, we are very excited and really looking forward to learning about superheroes from the past such as Mary Seacole and Neil Armstrong. We will also be learning about the Arctic and Antarctic and comparing it to where we live.

We are especially looking forward to learning all about The Great Fire of London including how it started and why it spread so quickly! Traditional fairy tales will also be a key focus as well as where our food is grown around the world. We will be taking part in lots of special days linked to our topics that are full of fun! We will share a class story together at the end of every day and continue to develop a love of reading for pleasure. We can’t wait to get started!

Interesting facts about Owls

There are more than 150 species of owls in the world. Owls are found in all different habitats and there are different owl species found on all continents except Antarctica. A barn owl can eat up to 1,000 mice each year! An owl has three eyelids: one for blinking, one for sleeping and one for keeping the eye clean and healthy.
