Coleman - Year 3

Welcome to Coleman Class!

Our class is named after Bessie Coleman, who was a famous African-American aviator. On Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays Mrs Robinson will be our teacher, and on Tuesdays, Miss Woolston will teach us. Mrs Franco, Mrs Bulmer and Mrs Romain will also be helping us in our classroom. In Coleman Class, we are looking forward to learning about the Rainforest, World War II and the Stone Age.

We are really excited about all of our fantastic Topics and can’t wait to use some of the amazing rooms in the North Pole, like the ICT Suite, Sports Barn and the Science Lab. We know that we are going to have a fantastic year!

Interesting facts about Bessie Coleman

Bessie Coleman was an American aviator and the first Black woman to earn a pilot's license. Because flying schools in the United States denied her entry, she taught herself French and moved to France, earning her licence from France's well-known Caudron Brother's School of Aviation in just seven months. Bessie was born on January 26, 1892, in Atlanta, Texas. She's one of 13 children to Susan and George Coleman, who both worked as sharecroppers.
