Our nursery is for 3 and 4 year olds. We have two dedicated nursery classes. The children have access to their own outdoor playgrounds with climbing equipment, ride on bikes and scooters and a sand pit.

Year 1

Year 1 has three wonderful classes: Bumblebees, Rabbits and Robins. Year 1 is an exciting year for children as they begin their journey through the National Curriculum. There is a very smooth transition from Early Years to Year 1 including lots of opportunities for play, free choice and outdoor activities. Each year 1 class has access to an outdoor classroom area that is accessed on a regular basis. Phonics is a key focus throughout the year and built on from Reception. Phonics is taught daily in order to help the children to develop fluency with their reading and to prepare them for the Statutory Phonic Screening check in the Summer term.

Year 3

Year 3 have three classes, Coleman, Polo and MacArthur, taught by Mrs Robinson and Miss Woolston, Miss Fish and Mrs Lattughi. We are also very lucky to have Mrs Bulmer, Mrs Romain, Mrs Franco and Mrs Abraham working between the classes. Our exciting topics are the Rainforest, World War II and the Stone Age.

Year 5

Year 5 is the beginning of Upper Key Stage 2 and the classes are located upstairs. There are two classes in Year 5, Amundsen and Peake, taught by Miss Gilbert and Miss Baker. Our three topics are The Anglo-Saxons and Vikings, Space and Ancient Greece.

Early Years

Our Early Years classrooms are located in their own building which offers modern facilities, a large playground and access to covered outdoor play spaces. Early Years is split into two classes, Cygnets and Chicks.

Year 2

There are three classes in Year 2: Badgers, Hedgehogs and Owls. In Year 2 we continue to build on the children’s phonic knowledge from Year 1 and also introduce more in-depth Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling (GPS) concepts for children to apply into their writing. Children’s reading also focuses on developing children’s comprehension and inference skills. In Maths, we use a mix of concrete and pictorial resources to develop children’s fluency, problem solving and reasoning skills. We also support and guide children to complete their end of KS1 SATs assessments in the Summer Term in a familiar and informal environment.

Year 4

Year 4 has two classes, Grylls and Byrd, taught by Mrs Worrall and Mrs Stott. In year 4 the children are taken swimming to develop their swimming ability and learn to swim. Year 4 also go camping where they participate in a range of activities aimed at developing confidence and team work skills. This year, the children are also tested on their time tables.

Year 6

Year 6 have two classes, Hillary and Fields taught by Mr Holdsworth and Miss Mirto. Our three topics are Crime and Punishment, Ancient Egypt and The Ancient Maya. We are extremely lucky to have Mrs Cusano working with both classes.
